Arvada Sunrise Rotary’s Annual Food and Wine Caper
September 27, 2008

NEWS RELEASE

Caper1The Arvada Sunrise Rotary holds its Annual Food and Wine Caper at Roth Distributing Center in Denver, Colorado.  Over two hundred guests join the Rotarians for an evening of wine tasting, bidding on silent auction items, and cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs.  The “Caper” is the club’s single, annual fundraiser.

caper2Chef Jake Linzinmeir, owner of restaurants Chair 8, Blue Point Grill, and the Wildflour Cooking Company in Telluride, Colorado—and a regular contributor to the Today Show; and Chef Shelly Steinhaus—owner of Bella Bistro in Arvada, Colorado prepared signature dishes in the Roth Distributing Center demonstration kitchen.  Shelly entertained and instructed the crowd with the preparation of delicious Italian style paella.  Jake assures the audience that every one could prepare the tasty duck pot pie with goat cheese sage crust recipe in their own kitchens.

caper3The proceeds from the Food and Wine Caper fund the Arvada Sunrise Rotary’s many local and international projects.  Recently, the money has been used for the Read to Me literacy project, which encourages parents to read to their young children; the Backpack Project with the Arvada Food Bank, which provides weekend meals to Arvada school children; the Oldonyonyoke water project, which supplies water to a regional hospital in Kenya; and to create the Four Way Test ethics program for Jefferson County seventh graders.

The 2007 Food and Wine Caper broke all previous records.  The Arvada Sunrise Rotarians are thrilled to use the funds to continue their established projects and launch new ones in Arvada, Colorado and abroad.  The Arvada Sunrise Rotary meets every Tuesday morning at 7:10 at the Arvada Center for the Arts.  Visitors are always welcome!
